Lor Mee 178

I was at Tiong Bahru Food Centre for lunch today. I decided to check out this Lor Mee stall called Lor Mee 178. This stall is one of the popular stalls with awards in the food centre. I ordered a Lor Mee with Deep Fried Shark Nuggets which cost S$3.00. The Lor Mee is tasty and the fried crumps sprinkled on the top of the Lor Mee is very crispy and tasty. The Fried Shark Nuggets are crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. The fish taste fresh and does not have a fishy taste. You can find ingredients like lor bak, ngoh hiang, fishcake and bean sprouts. However, I find that the gravy is a not thick and tasty enough. Otherwise, it would have been perfect. Overall, I find the crispy crumps and fried shark nuggets are delicious and you can give it a try if you want to check out how fried shark nuggets taste.

Hai Tang Lor Mee

I was at Mei Chin Road Market today for breakfast. As usual, I was walking around the hawker centre to look around for good food. I noticed that there was a queue at this Lor Mee stall called Hai Tang Lor Mee. I decided to join in the queue and ordered a bowl of Lor Mee for S$2.50. The Lor Mee was very tasty but I find that the gravy can be more gluey and thicker. I like the fried pork strips that were added in the Lor Mee, it was very tender and fragrant. You can also find ingredients like stewed hard boiled egg, lor bak, ngoh hiang, fishcake and bean sprouts. Overall, I find that this Lor Mee is pretty good and you can give it a try if you are around the area.

Tiong Bahru Lor Mee

I was at Tiong Bahru Market and Food Centre for lunch. I decided to check out the Tiong Bahru Lor Mee again after so many years since they moved back to the renovated Market and Food Centre. There was a queue at the stall and I joined in the queue to order a large bowl of Lor Mee for S$3.00. The Lor Mee is tasty and the texture of the gravy is sticky and gluey but I find the gravy a little bit salty. The Lor Mee consists of ingredients like fried wantan, fried fish fillet, sliced stewed pork, fishcake and beansprouts. The fried fish is fresh but I find it a little salty. Frankly speaking, I find the Lor Mee very tasty at first but somehow the goodness does not last and there's nothing very unique about it. It's still worth a try if you happen to be around the area.

Yong Zhen Lor Mee. Prawn Mee

I was at ABC Brickworks Market & Food Centre for dinner today. I wanted to eat Lor Mee at this stall called Yong Zhen Lor Mee. Prawn Mee. This stall is managed by an old lady and I must applaud her for the energy and ability to be able to work from day to night, cooking and washing at the stall. I ordered a big bowl of Lor Mee for S$3.00. The Lor Mee tastes good, the sauce is very tasty and ingredients include fried fish, fish cake, lor bak and bean sprouts. The fried fish meat is wholesome unlike other fried fish which is thickly coated with flour. You can taste the fish meat rather than the crumbs. However, I think It will be even better if the gravy is thicker, more gluey and less salty. Overall, this is worth a try if you are around the area.

137 Lor Mee & Prawn Mee

I was at Tampines Round Market and Food Centre having my lunch. After I had a bowl of Pork Rib Noodles, I noticed the Lor Mee at this stall called 137 Lor Mee & Prawn Mee looks good. I decided to order a bowl of Lor Mee for S$2.50. The Lor Mee was filled with lots of fried fish fillet and the fish fillet is still very crispy even after pouring the gravy over it. The gravy is thick and gluey but I find it not tasty or salty enough and it would have been better if it's more tasty. Overall, the generious portion of the fish fillet and the crispy crust makes it value for money.

Zhong Xing Fu Zhou Fish Ball And Lor Mee

I was at Maxwell Food Centre today for lunch. I decided to order Lor Mee from this stall called Zhong Xing Fu Zhou Fishball and Lor Mee. This is one of my all time favourite Lor Mee. The gravy is savoury, a traditional taste that I find very unique. This dish brings back old memories of how Lor Mee should taste. However, the gravy is a little too watery and it would be perfect if it's more thick and gluey. You can find ingredients like lor bak, fried meat ball, fried fish meat, fishcake and bean sprouts. If you add a little vinegar, the Lor Mee will be even tastier. This is certainly one of the better Lor Mee that I have tasted.

Bukit Purmei Lor Mee

I had a craving for Lor Mee today and decided to head down to Bukit Purmei to have my all time favourite Lor Mee. When I was there, I noticed that there was already a queue of people as usual. I ordered a large bowl of Lor Kway Teow for only S$3.50. The gravy is thick and tasty with a tinge of sweetness and the ingredients consists of lor bak, char siew, fish cake and crispy crumb cubes to go with the kway teow. The lor bak is tasty and has absorbed the sweetness and goodness of the stewed sauce. The char siew is also lean and a great compliment to the Lor Mee. The vinegar and chilli sauce not only add flavour to the Lor Mee but also make the whole dish more tasty. This is one Lor Mee not to be missed.
