Ship Village Seafood Restaurant

It's another short trip to Malaysia over the weekend. Today, went to this restaurant in Batu Pahat called Ship Village Seafood Restaurant. This restaurant is located at the coastal area next to the sea. You can experience the countryside living of the village and the cool breeze while you enjoy the seafood. Here's what we have ordered:

- Oyster Egg

For this dish, I find the the Oyster Egg kindof bland and the eggs does not have a fragrant taste. However, the oysters are small and fresh.

- Sambal Kang Kong

The secret of Sambal Kang Kong lies in the sambal, the sambal has a charred taste but I find that it can be a little saltier. I think this dish can be even better if they have added some dried shrimp to enhance the flavour.

- Deep Fried Calamari

This dish is pretty normal and the batter can be improved to make it even more crispy and tasty.

- Pork Rib in Sweet Sauce

The Pork Rib is deep fried till it's fragrant on the outside and tender on the inside. The sweet sauce is just right making the pork rib taste pretty good.

- Steamed Stingray

This is the first time I have ever tasted Steamed Stingray in my life. This dish is extremely delicious, the stingray is fresh and goes well with the fish stock. The strips of meat from the stingray does not have any fishy taste or smell and it is definitely fresh. You must definitely order this dish if you are there or you will regret it.

- Crayfish with Black Bean Sauce

The black bean sauce brings out the sweetness of the crayfish and adds more flavour to the dish, giving it a natural salty flavour. The eggs also go very well with the sauce. This dish is highly recommended if you are there.

- Chilli Crab

The Chilli Crab is pretty normal and the sauce can be better.

- Salted Egg Crab

For this dish, the Salted Egg Crab is not as fragrant as expected. The crabmeat is fresh but the doneness of the crabmeat can be better.

The total bill including drinks come up to RM355.60. Overall, I find that the dishes are pretty good but some of the dishes can be better. The 2 dishes that I would highly recommend is the Steamed Stingray and Crayfish with Black Bean Sauce. You must order these 2 dishes if you decide to check out this restaurant.

TG Sepat Seafood Bak Kut Teh

I was at Batu Pahat with my family today. We were walking along Jalan Setia Jaya looking for good food after going to Carrefour. While we were walking down the row of shophouses, I noticed this coffeeshop selling Bak Kut Teh and Tze Char filled with many people. You can see alot of newspaper articles on the wall talking about their Famous Fish Porridge and Bak Kut Teh.  We decided to check out the dishes at this coffeeshop called TG Sepat Seafood Bak Kut Teh. We ordered a Bak Kut Teh,  Steamed Fishhead, Claypot Vegetables and Yam Rice. It took about 15 minutes before the dishes were served due as it was pretty crowded. The Bak Kut Teh is piping hot and served in claypot. The soup is delicious and filled with the goodness of the pork rib and herbs. You can find ingredients like tau pok, button mushrooms, sliced pork belly, pork intestines and beancurd skin. The ingredients are fresh and the pork belly is soft and tender, like eating jelly without eating the layers of fat. The soup is so good that I can't stop slurping every drop of it. The Yam Rice is tasty and has ingredients like dried shimps and yam. The Steamed Fishhead is very fresh and does not have any fishy taste or smell. The fish is garnished with lots of ginger and garlic sauce and it goes very well with those condiments. The Claypot Vegetables is very tasty and has lots of garlic to make the dish more fragrant. The total bill for 3 person come up to RM66.70 including drinks. Overall, this is the best Bak Kut Teh I have ever tasted and definitely not to be missed if you around the area.
