Heng Gi Goose and Duck Rice

Braised Goose is one dish that you will not normally find in hawker centres. I happen to chance upon this stall called Heng Gi Goose and Duck Rice located at Tekka Food Centre. As usual, you will see a queue at the stall especially during lunch time. I ordered the goose meat as well as goose liver. The goose meat was tender and the braised sauce was not too salty. The goose liver tasted very creamy and wholesome. The texture is just nice, not too hard nor dry. The braised sauce also goes well with the white rice. Having said that, I must also say that there is not much significant difference between the goose meat and duck meat if you don't pay enough attention to it. Nevertheless, this is one rare dish in Singapore and you should give it a try if you happen to be around the area.

Ah Seng Braised Duck Rice

Today, I was at Serangoon Garden Food Centre for my favourite Roti John. However when I was there, I noticed that the stall was no longer there. Therefore, I decided to order duck rice from Ah Seng Braised Duck Rice instead. It has been quite long since the last time I ate from the stall. I ordered a plate of Duck Rice with Lor Bak. The duck was still as good and very fragrant. The stewed sauce tastes just like home cooked food, the stewed sauce goes well with the duck and lor bak. The Lor Bak is cooked till it's nice and soft, even the layer of fat is fragrant, though very sinful. The chilli sauce goes well with the duck and lor bak as it has a sourish taste making it very appetising. The is one of the better Braised Duck Rice I have tasted.

Teochew Braised Duck Rice

I was walking around the hawker centre in Bukit Merah scouting for good food when I noticed a long queue at this stall called Teochew Braised Duck Rice. I decided to check out the stall and joined in the queue to order a plate of Braised Duck Rice. As my mum can cook very nice Braised Duck, my expectation of it is quite high.

In my opinion, the duck is fragrant due to the braised sauce but the meat is a little too tough. I think the duck can be stewed longer so that the meat is softer and for the skin to fully aborb the braised sauce. The braised sauce was  delicious enough for me to eat the white rice with it alone. Overall, I find that the Braised Duck is above average and you can give it a try if you are not as fussy as me over Braised Duck.

Seng Heng Braised Duck

I was at Jurong West food Centre for lunch today. I had craving for duck rice and decided to order from this stall called Seng Heng Braised Duck. I ordered a plate of Braised Duck Rice for S$3.00. The Braised Duck is tender and has absorbed the rich flavour of the braised sauce. Even the skin is fragrant and braised till it's nice and soft. The braised sauce is not too salty and goes well with the rice. This is one of the better Braised Duck Rice I have tasted. You can check it out if you are around the area.

Lim Seng Lee Duck Rice Eating House (林成利鴨飯餐室)

If you ask me where the best Braised Duck Rice or Porridge in Singapore is, I would recommend this Braised Duck Rice located along South Buona Vista Road called Lim Seng Lee Duck Rice Eating House. This not only my childhood favourite but they serve the best Braised Duck I have ever tasted. I had craving for Braised Duck Porridge today and decided to go there for dinner. I ordered the Braised Duck, Stir Fried Kang Kong and Porridge. The duck is being deboned and the meat is thinly sliced. The secret lies in the special braised gravy that is poured over the duck to make the dish complete. The gravy not only makes the duck even more tastier but its sweetness and rich flavour complements the porridge very well. You can always ask for another bowl of gravy if you don't get enough of it from the plate of duck,  The Stir Fried Kang Kong is a simple dish fried with lots of pounded dried shrimps. It tastes like home cooked food. This is one Braised Duck not to be missed.
