Teochew Restaurant Huat Kee 1998 Pte Ltd

Today, I was at Huat Kee Teochew Restaurant to celebrate my Dad's birthday. Heard that this Teochew Restarant serves very good Teochew food. There was a wide variety of dishes to choose from ranging from cold dishes to seafood and poultry. Here's what we have ordered:

- Sliced Braised Goose Meat with Braised Pork

The Braised Goose Meat was tasty, it was thinly sliced and it was braised till it has absorbed the flavour from the braised sauce. I find that the Braised Pork can be stewed longer so that the meat can be softer. Ironically, I was also disappointed when the fats did not melt in my mouth; I was hoping for that texture.

- Oyster Omelette

The Oyster Omelette is pretty good, the outer crust is crispy and the inside is soft and fluffy.

- Teochew Style Steamed Promfret

The Steamed Promfret was pretty normal. The promfret weights about  800 grams which is enough for 8 pax. I find that the promfret has a fishy taste even though it was served piping hot. It was kind of disappointing as we thought it was fundamental that a Teochew Restaurant to serves fresh and tasty Steamed Promfret.

- Stir Fry Xiao Bai Cai

The Stir fry Xiao Bai Cai was crunchy and they added the crispy flat fish to add more flavour to the dish.

- Huat Kee Signature Fried Kway Teow

Their famous Fried Kway Teow was fragrant and filled with diced vegetables to neutralise the taste from the preserved radish.

- Yam Paste with Ginko Nut

Their Yam Paste with Ginko Nut was awesome, it was not too sweet and has the natural goodness of the sweet potato and ginko nut. This dish is highly recommended and you must save your stomach for this dish.

Overall, I find that the food is pretty good and you can give it a try if you are looking for good Yam Paste with Ginko for desserts.
Rating: 7/10 (Good, Can Try)
