Peach Blossoms (鸿桃轩)

Today I decided to check out Peach Blossom at Marina Mandarin. Heard that the Dim Sum Buffet there is good. We ordered the Roast Duck, Braised Sharksfin with Crab Meat and Fish Maw, Sea Cucumber with Spinach and Dried Scallops, Chilled Chicken with Chinese Wine Roll, XO Carrot Cake, Siew Mai, Pork Ribs, Chicken Feet, Char Siew Bao, Fried Beancurd Skin with Prawns and Minced Meat, Xiao Long Bao, Szechuan Dumplings, Char Siew Pastry, Osmanthus Jelly and Chrysanthemum Jelly with Green Apple. The Roast Duck is tasty, the skin is crispy and the meat is juicy and not too dry. The Braised Sharksfin is rich and thick with the goodness of the crab meat and fish maw. For the Sea Cucumber, I find that it's not soft enough and it is too thick but the gravy goes extremely well with the sea cucumber and spinach. The Chilled Chicken with Chinese Wine Roll is kindof unique with a strong taste of chinese wine. For Dim Sum dishes like the Siew Mai, Pork Ribs and Chicken Feet, I find it very normal and can be better. The Char Siew Bao is nice and soft. The Fried Beancurd Skin with Prawns and Minced Meat is nice and crispy.  The Xiao Long Bao is kindof normal and I think they can add more meat so that the soup will taste even better and not so bland. The Szechuan Dumplings are a little spicy but the skin is not too thick and the filling of the meat is just nice. The Char Siew Pastry is fantastic, the pastry simply melts in your mouth. The Osmanthus Jelly has a nice fragrant of the Osmanthus but I find it a little too sweet. Lastly for the Chrysanthemum Jelly, it's chilled and has a refreshing taste and it is garnished with small cubes of green apples. The price per person is S$45++. Overall I find the Dim Sum Buffet above average but kindof pricey but if you order the Sharksfin or Buddaha Jump Over The Wall, then you can make your dollars worth.

Ajmeer Stall (Mee Goreng)

I was at Seah Im Food Centre for dinner looking for good food. I decided to order Kway Teow Goreng Ikan Bilis and Bee Hoon Goreng Ikan Bilis at this Ajmeer Stall. They have been around for more than 10 years at this Food Centre. The Kway Teow Goreng is tasty and consists of ingredients like Ikan bilis, onions, vegetables, bean sprouts and eggs. The Ikan bilis is crispy and goes well with the kway teow. The Bee Hoon goreng is also very delicious and not too salty. This is one of the best Kway Teow and Bee Hoon Goreng I have ever tasted. If you are around the area, you must check out this stall.

Tian Tian Yuan Dessert House

If you are looking for desserts after a meal at Tiong Bahru Market, you must definitely try the Cheng Tng at this stall called Tian Tian Yuan Dessert House. I ordered a bowl of Cold Cheng Tng from this stall after a meal on a hot sunny day. The Cheng Tng was not too sweet but was just nice. There is a generous serving of ingredients like the green beans, red beans, barley, persimmon, longan meat and ginko nut. Something unique about this stall is that they add waterchestnut to the dessert, giving it a crunchy texture with every other mouthful. The Cheng Tng is simply refreshing especially on a hot sunny day. You must definitely try it for yourself to believe.

Tiong Bahru Fried Kway Teow

The Tiong Bahru Market located at Seng Poh Road is a food paradise for foodies out there. There are many famous stalls  like the Lor Mee, Roast Duck Rice, Tiong Bahru Bao that are very popular. I was there for lunch and decided to order a plate of Fried Kway Teow that cost S$3.00. The Fried Kway Teow is tasty and they added alot of garlic making the Kway Teow very fragrant. However, you will feel that the garlic is a little overwhelming after a while. The Kway Teow consists of ingredients like cockles, fish cake, chinese sausages, eggs and bean sprouts. Overall the taste is above average but it's definitely one of the better ones.

Teochew Fishball Noodle Dry/Soup

I was at Tiong Bahru Market looking for good food to recommend. I remember this stall that sells very good Fishball Noodle call Teochew Fishball Noodle Dry/Soup. I ordered a bowl of You Mee Dry with lots of chilli sauce. There are ingredients like fish cake, fish dumpling and fishballs. The fishballs are succulent and very fresh, it does not have a fishy smell and it is not too salty. The secret of its good taste lies in their chilli sauce and vinegar, it makes the fishball noodles complete. If you happen to be at Tiong Bahru Market, do check out this stall.

No. 1 Western Food

Today, I was at Tanglin Halt Food Centre to check out what good food I can find here. When I was there, I noticed the long queue at this No. 1 Western Food stall. I saw an oid man grilling and frying at the stall while his wife was taking orders from the customers. I went around to check out what most people are ordering from this stall and discovered that most people ordered the Chicken Cutlet. I ordered the Chicken Cutlet and Fish and Chips. The Chicken Cutlet was fried till it's nice and crispy. The Fish and Chips was also very crispy on the outside but very tender and fresh on the inside. They have also added the Hainanese style tomato sauce to both dishes so that it will not be too dry.

G7 Sin Ma Live Seafood Restaurant (新马活海鲜餐馆)

I was at G7 Sin Ma Live Seafood Restaurant with my friends for dinner. We ordered a Porridge, Gong Bao Frog Legs, Fried French Beans, Minced Meat Beancurd, Marmite Chicken, Deep Fried Promfret and Salt Egg Buttered Crabs. The Crab cost about S$45.00 per kilogram and the Promfet cost about S$7.50 per 100 grams. The Porridge is nice and smooth and goes well with the Gong Bao Sauce and Frog Legs. For the French Bean, it is kindof raw and salty, maybe, it's  due to the ikan bilis. The Beancurd is soft on the inside and fragrant on the outside but I find that the minced meat sauce will be better if it is thicker and tastier. The Marmite Chicken is a too salty but the doneness of the chicken is a little crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside but the marmite sauce is too salty. The Fried Promfret is crispy with a tinge of sour taste like Thai sauce that is sweet and sour. Lastly, the Salted Egg Buttered Crabs is very fragrant and the flesh is sweet. The total bill come up to S$264.10, including drinks and GST charges. Overall, I find that the meal is above average but if you are here just for the Porridge and Frog Legs, I think it's worth to try.

Soon Lee

I was at Clementi Market & Food Centre today to have my dinner. I wanted to have something light and decided to order chicken porridge from this stall called Soon Lee. They sell 3 types of porridge namely Pork, Chicken and Fish Porridge. The Chicken Porridge is very tasty and smooth. The porridge has ingredients like the "Tang Chai" also know as preserved Tianjin vegetables, deep fried lard, sliced chicken and you tiao. The deep fried lard that is added into the porridge makes it more fragrant and it will taste better if you add an egg into the porridge. Having this bowl of porridge especially on a rainy day will keep you nice and warm.

Fatty Cheong

Today I made my way down to ABC Market located at Bukit Merah to have my lunch. I was walking around the hawker centre to look out for good food and noticed a queue of people at this Fatty Cheong stall queuing up for Roast Duck or Char Siew. I decided to check out this stall and joined in the queue as well to order a plate of Roast Duck Rice with Char Siew. The Char Siew slice is very thick and the taste of the Char Siew sauce is nice and sweet. I think it will taste even better if it's slightly charred. As for the Roast Duck, the skin is is very fragrant but I find that the meat is a little too dry. They also added gravy over the white rice to give it more taste.  Overall I think that it's above average.
