Shenton Way Power Stall

I was at Ayer Rajah Food Centre for dinner today. I had a craving for Roti Prata and decided to order from this stall called Shenton Way Power Stall. They serve very good Bee Hoon Goreng and I have reviewed it previously. I was surprised that their Roti Prata was very delicious as well. The Roti Prata was very crispy and it feels like eating keropok. They use mutton curry instead of fish curry to go with their prata. The stall owner told me that mutton curry goes well with the prata and true enough their mutton curry bought me over. The mutton curry was very tasty and does not have the strong mutton smell that I'm quite particular with. The curry is very thick and tasty. This is one of the better Roti Prata I have tasted and definitely worth a try.

Dover Road Kai Kee Wantan Mee

Today, I was at Bukit Merah to check out my favourite Laksa but to my disappointment, it was not opened. I was walking around the hawker centre and decided to order a plate of Wantan Mee from this stall called Dover Road Kai Kee Wantan Mee. Although it's only S$2.50, the serving is generous. The Wantan Mee is very tasty, the texture of the noodle is just nice, soft and springy. The chilli sauce is superb, it not only enhanced the flavour of the Wantan Mee but it's the main element that made this dish so tasty.  The char siew is lean and does not have any layer of fats. The wantan is also filled with small chunks of minced pork to give it that wholesome taste. Overall, I find that the serving is generous and the noodles go very well with the chilli sauce. This is one of the stalls to check out if you are there.

Teochew Braised Duck Rice

I was walking around the hawker centre in Bukit Merah scouting for good food when I noticed a long queue at this stall called Teochew Braised Duck Rice. I decided to check out the stall and joined in the queue to order a plate of Braised Duck Rice. As my mum can cook very nice Braised Duck, my expectation of it is quite high.

In my opinion, the duck is fragrant due to the braised sauce but the meat is a little too tough. I think the duck can be stewed longer so that the meat is softer and for the skin to fully aborb the braised sauce. The braised sauce was  delicious enough for me to eat the white rice with it alone. Overall, I find that the Braised Duck is above average and you can give it a try if you are not as fussy as me over Braised Duck.

Kim's Place Seafood Cuisine

I was at Ubi area today so I decided to have my lunch in this coffeeshop at Block 3014. When I was there, I noticed this stall called Kim's Place Seafood Cuisine. I recalled that they serve pretty good Hokkien Mee. I ordered a large plate of Hokkien Mee for S$6.00. The portion was enough for 2 small eaters but I think it's a little too much for me. Their Hokkien Mee is tasty and the noodles are wet as they have absorbed the essence of the seafood stock. The ingredients are fresh and the chilli sauce that goes with the Hokkien Mee is superb. It has a sourish taste and it's a little spicy to add more flavour to the dish. It's worth giving it a try.

Hock Lam Beef

Whenever I have craving for Beef Noodles, I would think of this stall called Hock Lam Beef located at Far East Square. Having been around since 1911, they have perfected their recipe over the years. It has been quite some time since I had a bowl of good Beef Noodles. I ordered a large bowl of Beef Kway Teow Soup with additional tendons for S$9.00. The soup has a rich and sweet taste of the beefy goodness minus the strong beefy smell. The ingredients such as tripe, brisket, tendons and sliced beef are fresh and very tender. The tripe is soft and tender and the brisket is well marinated and does not have any beefy smell. Lastly, the sliced beef is awesome, it is also soft and tender and goes well with their home made chilli sauce that is a little sourish to give it an appetising taste. Their kway teow is silky and smooth and goes well with the soup base. They have perfected the art of cooking Beef Kway Teow and I would strongly recommend that you "Die Die Must Try!" or you will regret it. This is by far the best Beef Noodles I have ever tasted.

Seng Heng Braised Duck

I was at Jurong West food Centre for lunch today. I had craving for duck rice and decided to order from this stall called Seng Heng Braised Duck. I ordered a plate of Braised Duck Rice for S$3.00. The Braised Duck is tender and has absorbed the rich flavour of the braised sauce. Even the skin is fragrant and braised till it's nice and soft. The braised sauce is not too salty and goes well with the rice. This is one of the better Braised Duck Rice I have tasted. You can check it out if you are around the area.

Lucky Chicken Rice (Boneless Chicken)

I was at Lucky Plaza today to check out the chicken rice at this stall called Lucky Chicken Rice. I ordered a plate of chicken rice for S$4.30. The Chicken Rice is pretty good, I'm quite particular about the rice because I feel that it is an important element in the disd. The rice is soft and fragrant but I find that they can add more garlic and chicken stock to make it taste even better. The chicken is also tender even though it's chicken breast. The soya sauce poured over the chicken is fragrant and added more flavour to the chicken. You can check out this stall if you are in town and want some cheap and good chicken rice.

Hong Kong Jin Tian Eating House

Today I was at Seng Poh Road to check out this Roast Duck and Roast Pork stall called Hong Kong Jin Tian Eating House. I ordered a plate of Roast Duck and Roast Pork Rice for S$4.00. The Roast Duck is fragrant but I find that the skin is not crispy enough and a little salty due to the spices. The Roast Pork is very also fragrant and tasty but like the roast duck, the skin is not crispy enough. Overall, I find that the Roast Pork tastes better than the Roast Duck. You can try the Roast Pork instead of the Roast Duck if you are checking out the stall.
