Soup Restaurant

I was back at Seah Street today for dinner at Soup Restaurant. It has been quite some time since I ate at Soup Restaurant. As usual, I ordered their signature dishes, Samsui Chicken and Penang Fried Mee Suah. Needless to say, their Samsui Chicken is indeed very tender, even the skin is so soft and silky. The chicken goes very well with their homemade ginger sauce. You can also eat the chicken wrapped in cabbage. The cabbage makes the texture a little more crunchy and juicy giving it a refreshing taste. The Penang Fried Mee Suah it is very tasty. You can find ingredients like chicken, eggs, prawns, bean sprouts, onions and mushrooms. Overall, I find that the food is pretty good and you can check out this place especially if you have craving for chicken rice.

Sin Swee Kee Chicken Rice Restaurant

It has been quite a while since I had time to check out new food. I was at Seah Street today for dinner and I remembered having chicken rice at one of the shophouses there many years back. I decided to check out the chicken rice at this Sin Swee Kee Chicken Rice Restaurant. I ordered half a Chicken and a plate of Hongkong Kailan with Oyster Sauce. The chicken was delicious, it was tasty and tender even tough it was breast meat. The rice was soft and fragrant, it tastes good even on it's own. It was even better than I had expected. The ginger and chilli sauce goes well with the chicken, the chilli sauce was a little spicy and it added more flavour to the chicken. The ginger was fragrant and very tasty, it tastes like the one at Soup Restaurant. As for the Hongkong Kailan with Oyster Sauce, I find that it was pretty normal. Overall, I find that the Chicken Rice is one of the better ones I have ever tasted.

Margaret Drive Teochew Fishball Noodles

I was at Bedemeer Food Centre again today to check out this famous Fishball noodles stall that was previously located at Margaret Drive. I ordered a bowl of Mee Pok dry with chilli for only S$2.50. They were very generous with their serving of noodles. I had wanted to add more noodles but I was warned beforehand that the portion is quite alot and true enough it was just nice for me. The texture of the Mee Pok was springy and goes well with the chilli sauce. They added alot of fried garlic and lard making it very fragrant. The fishballs were also very fresh and springy, I find that the soup had a natural flavour of the fishballs and the "Tang Chai" added a little more flavour to it. This is one of the better Fishball Noodles I have tasted. Fans of this Margaret Drive Fishball Noodles, you can finally check out this stall again.

Sims Place Prawn Noodles

I went to Bendemeer Market and Food Centre for lunch today. I ordered a bowl of Pork Rib Bee Hoon Soup with Pig Intestines from this stall called Sims Place Prawn Noodles. This is one of my favourite stalls at Bendemeer Food Centre. This stall has awards and recommendations by the various variety show such as City Beat. The Pork Rib Bee Hoon was fantastic. The pork ribs were cooked till it's nice and soft. The soup was tasty and is filled with the sweetness from the prawns and pork ribs. The pig intestines are fresh, cleaned thoroughly and does not taste bitter. The fried spring onions and lard that was added into the soup to make it even more fragrant. This is definitely one of the better ones I have tasted. You must check out this stall to believe.

Shun Li Fried Oysters

I was at Bukit Merah Lane 1 food centre today for dinner and I had a craving for Fried Oyster Omelette. I noticed that there was a newspaper writeup on this stall called Shun Li Fried Oysters many years back and therefore I decided to order a plate of Fried Oyster Omelette for S$5.00. The Fried Oyster Omelette is tasty and if you like your omelette soft and fluffy, this dish will definitely meet your expectations. I find that the oysters are pretty normal but it goes well with the chilli sauce. Overall, I find that the Oyster Omelette is tasty but I would like the outer crust to be crispier to give it that explosive feeling in your mouth.

Outback Steakhouse

It has been more than a month since my wife gave birth to our lovely daughter. This is our first meal out together after her delivery. I brought her and our daughter to Outback Steakhouse for lunch but of course the baby could only drink her milk. Here's what we ordered:

- Caesar Salad

I'm not a fan of salad but this Caesar Salad had definitely impressed me. The dressing is not oily and the cheese goes very well with the salad. This dish is worth a try especially for salad lovers out there.

- Cream of Chicken and Mushroom

The soup is delicious, the texture is thick and creamy. You can find ingredients like celery, carrots, small chunks of chicken and cubes of mushroom. This is unlike those canned soup you find in supermarket, it's tastier and the ingredients are fresh.

- Kookaburra Wings (Medium Hot)

The Kookaburra Wings are crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside. I find that the wings can be more flavourful if it is marinated longer to absorb the spices. Personally, I think that I should have gone for the "Hot" instead of "Medium Hot' cause the latter is not spicy enough for my liking.

- BBQ Chicken

The BBQ Chicken is grilled till it's slightly charred on the outside and tender on the inside. The BBQ sauce goes well with the chicken. I'm not a fan of BBQ Chicken but this dish is pretty well done. I would say that this is a passable dish if you are in the restaurant because of the need for variety to cater to different people. Just chicken? I would head to Kenny's.

- Black Pepper Steak

I have very high expectation when it comes to steak. I find that the steak can be better if they add brown sauce to the black pepper to give the steak more flavour.

Overall, I find that the food is pretty good and the restaurant has a nice ambience that is suitable for couples and gatherings.

Da Zhong Delicious Yong Tau Fu

I was at Bukit Timah Food Centre for breakfast today to check out this Fishball Noodles stall called Da Zhong Delicious Yong Tau Fu. I heard that this stall serves homemade fishballs and I had to give this stall a try. When I was there, I ordered a bowl of Fishball Noodles with additional meatballs for S$3.80. Indeed, the fishballs have a springy and bouncy texture. The meatballs are made of fish meat and pork and in every one of them , you can taste small cubes of chestnut and preserved vegetables. I think they would taste even better if they are  are deep fried till it's crispy. The chilli sauce is a little sweet due to the sweet sauce that was added to Yong Tau Hu but somehow, it still goes well with the noodles. Overall, I find that the ingredients are fresh and it's hard to find homemade fishballs nowadays. You can give it a try if you happen to be around the area.
