Bedok Corner Hokkien Prawn Mee

Today was my first time at Bedok Corner Food Centre, I didn't even know that there was a hawker centre in this part of the island. I was being recommended to check out this Hokkien Mee stall called Bedok Corner Hokkien Prawn Mee. When I was there, I joined the queue and ordered a plate of Hokkien Prawn Mee for S$4.00. The cook fried the Hokkien Mee with lots of seafood stock and it was well-abosrbed by the noodle. I find that the Hokkien Mee can be tastier if the stock is thicker and more flavourful. Lard is also missing in this dish. If you like your Hokkien Mee wet, you will definitely enjoy this. Overall, I find that this Hokkien Mee is pretty good and you can check out this place if you happen to pass by the area.

Hai Chua Fishball Minced Meat Mee

Today I was at Boon Lay Place Food Village to check out this Fishball Noodles stall called Hai Chua Fishball Minced Meat Mee. Heard that this stall was patronise by one of our local celebrity chef and named as one of his favourite Mee Pok stall. I had wanted to check out this stall a couple of times previously but it was either closed or already sold out for the day. I realised that they open in the morning and usually sold out by noon. I ordered a bowl of Mee Pok dry for S$3.00. The doneness of the Mee Pok was springy and just nice. The fishball was bouncy and fresh, not forgetting the minced meat and sliced pork is also tender, I must say that their fresh ingredients bought me over. I find that their chilli sauce can be better if it is more spicy to add more flavour to the dish. If they add lard, it will also help to make the dish more fragrant. You can check out this stall if you are around the area.

Ramen Keisuke Tonkotsu King

It has been quite a while since I had Ramen. Today, I went to check out this Japanese Ramen Restaurant called Ramen Keisuke Tonkotsu King with my wife. Heard that they serve very good and authentic Ramen. When I was there, I noticed a queue waiting outside the restaurant. My orders were taken while we were waiting for a table. They also served free Japanese Barley drink to waiting patrons. Here's what we have ordered:

- Tonkotsu Ramen With Flavoured Egg

The Tonkotsu Ramen is delicious, the soup base has a rich pork flavour that goes very well with the noodles. The doneness of the noodles is nice and springy. The sliced pork that was added into the ramen is tender and the flavoured egg is also soft like tofu. The flavoured egg is one of the better ones I have ever tasted. You must try it yourself to believe.

- Black Spicy Tonkotsu Ramen Special (All Toppings)

The Black Spicy Tonkotsu Ramen Special has a thick and rich soup base. The difference is that they use black pepper to give it that tinge of spiciness. You can find ingredients like black fungus, seaweed, flavoured egg and sliced pork. The combination was perfect adding more flavour to the dish.

It is also interesting to note that the restaurant serves a free flow of egg (normal hardboil egg) and beanspouts to go with your ramen. Although the restaurant is small and perhaps does not look very clean, I felt that the ramen is good enough to neglect the factors.

Overall I find that this is one of the better Ramen I have tasted. You must give it a try!

Imperial Treasure Super Peking Duck

Today I was at Imperial Treasure Super Peking Duck for lunch with my wife. This is my first time at the restaurant. Heard that their Peking Duck is pretty good but unfortunately we could not try it as we did not pre-order it. Here's what we have ordered instead: -

- Deep Fried Beancurd Skin

The Deep Fried Beancurd Skin is very crispy on the outside and stuffed with fresh prawns on the inside. I find that the ingredients used like the prawns are very fresh.

- Siew Mai

The Siew Mai is filled with fresh prawns making it very crunchy and the overall texture wholesome.

- Steamed Minced Pork Dumpling

The Steam Minced Pork Dumpling is very good, the soup is filled with the goodness from the minced pork. Every mouthful of the dumpling is simply statisfying.

- BBQ Pork Rice Roll

The BBQ Rice Roll is very smooth and silky and goes well with the sweet sauce but I find that it can be even better if the rice roll is even thinner and the BBQ Pork should be less fatty.

- BBQ Pork Pastry

The BBQ Pork Pastry is delicious, the BBQ sauce is very well done making the pork very tasty. However, I find that the BBQ Pork is a little fatty. I'm quite particular about BBQ Pork. Personally I think that BBQ Pork must be slightly charred and less fatty.

- Egg Tart

The Egg Tart is delicious, the egg custard is soft and smooth. The pastry is light and flaky. This is one of the best Egg Tarts I have tasted.

- XO Sauce Noodle

The XO Sauce Noodle is basically Mee Pok with XO sauce. I must say that the doneness of the Mee Pok was very good, the texture was springy and it goes well with the XO sauce. This simple dish is pretty good but I find that you can do it yourself if you can find good Mee Pok and XO sauce.

Overall, the total bill come up to S$52.40, I find that the ingredients are fresh and the quality is pretty good but I find that it is kind of pricey for a simple meal like this. You can check out this place if you are shopping around the area.
