You Huak Restaurant

Today I checked out this famous White Bee Boon located at Sembawang called You Huak Restaurant. It is also known as Sembawang White Bee Hoon. When I was there, I noticed that there were people waiting for seats. As I scanned the eating house, there is a plate of White Bee Hoon on almost every table. I ordered a plate of Seafood White Bee Hoon, Meat and Seafood Roll and Indo Style Fried Chicken Wings. The Seafood White Bee Hoon was delicious, it has a strong seafood flavour and fresh ingredients. The bee hoon has absorbed the seafood gravy making it very tasty. The Meat and Seafood Roll is also pretty good, the outer crust is crispy and soft and tender on the inside. Lastly, the Indo Style Fried Chicken Wings are fried till it's crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside. The chicken is well marinated making it very tasty. Overall, I find that the food is pretty good and will definitely look forward to coming back again.

Chui Xiang Kitchen (醉香小厨)

I am not a fan of seafood, but I tend to have an inclination in Lobster Porridge. Today, I'm brought my wife to Commonwealth to check out the Lobster Porridge at this place called Chui Xiang Kitchen. Heard that this place serves very good Lobster Porridge and they are well known for their fine culinery skills. Here's what we have ordered: -

- Lobster Porridge

The Lobster Porridge is delicious. The soup is very tasty and sweet with a mild seafood taste. The Lobster is fresh and succullent. If you are lobster lover, you will love this dish.

- Cabbage Chicken

The Cabbage Chicken is pretty good, the chicken and the cabbage is stewed till it's nice and soft. The chicken and cabbage goes well with the thick gravy but I think it would have been even better if it was stewed longer so that the chicken absorbs the gravy better.

Zhu Lin Seafood

Today I was at this Tze Char Stall called Zhu Lin Seafood located at Jurong East for dinner. This place is popular for their Paper Wrapper Chicken. The chicken is cooked and wrapped in paper. Here's what I have ordered:

- Curry Fishhead

Their Curry Fishhead is delicious, the gravy is thick and fragrant. The fish is fresh and you can find ingredients like tau kee, tau pok, lady's finger, tomato and brinjal. I would say it is a nice and nutritional dish.

- Paper Wrapper Chicken

The Paper Wrapper Chicken is their signature dish. The chicken is tasty and tender and you can taste the goodness of the chicken and herbs in the gravy. This is one of the better Paper Wrapper Chicken I have tasted.

- Stir Fry Sweet Potato Leave with Sambal Chill

The Stir Fry Sweet Potato Leave with Sambal Chilli is very tasty due to the Sambal Chilli that adds more flavour and spice to the dish.

Seng Kee Black Herbal Chicken Soup (成基黑鸡补品)

Today, my wife has craving for Mee Suah and therefore I brought her to our favourite Mee Suah place called Seng Kee Black Herbal Chicken Soup. This place serves very good Mixed Pork, Pork Kidney, Pork Liver or Sliced Pork Mee Suah. As usual, we will order a bowl of Sliced Pork Mee Suah. I also ordered a Minced Meat Tofu and Steamed Fish. The Sliced Pork Mee Suah has a rich herbal soup base and the sliced pork is also soft and tender. The Minced Meat Tofu is tasty and the tofu is nice and soft. Last but not least, the Steamed Fish is fresh and the texture of the fish meat is just right. The tomatoes, salted vegetables as well as the sour plums makes the dish very appetising. Overall, I find that the food is very good and the prices are affordable too. There is also a variety of other Tze Char dishes available. You must try it!

Dean's Cafe Live Seafood

I was having dinner today at Dean's Cafe Live Seafood. This place has became a hotspot for reasonable and good seafood. I ordered a Crispy Duck, Stir Fry "Nai Bai" Cabbage, Tofu and Bee Hoon with Gravy. As the place was packed with many people, it took about 45 mins for the first dish to be served. For the Crispy Duck, the skin was very crispy indeed. The Tofu was silky and smooth covered with gravy. The gravy has seafood like prawns, sotong, green peas, carrots and eggs. The Stir Fry "Nai Bai" Cabbage is fresh and crunchy. Lastly, the Bee Hoon is tasty especially with the gravy adding more flavour to the Bee Hoon. Overall the total bill come up to S$46.00. Heard that the Crab Bee Hoon and Chai Por Hor Fun is also one of the highly recommended dishes you must try. If you are looking for good seafood at reasonable prices, you can check out this place.

G7 Sin Ma Live Seafood Restaurant (新马活海鲜餐馆)

I was at G7 Sin Ma Live Seafood Restaurant with my friends for dinner. We ordered a Porridge, Gong Bao Frog Legs, Fried French Beans, Minced Meat Beancurd, Marmite Chicken, Deep Fried Promfret and Salt Egg Buttered Crabs. The Crab cost about S$45.00 per kilogram and the Promfet cost about S$7.50 per 100 grams. The Porridge is nice and smooth and goes well with the Gong Bao Sauce and Frog Legs. For the French Bean, it is kindof raw and salty, maybe, it's  due to the ikan bilis. The Beancurd is soft on the inside and fragrant on the outside but I find that the minced meat sauce will be better if it is thicker and tastier. The Marmite Chicken is a too salty but the doneness of the chicken is a little crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside but the marmite sauce is too salty. The Fried Promfret is crispy with a tinge of sour taste like Thai sauce that is sweet and sour. Lastly, the Salted Egg Buttered Crabs is very fragrant and the flesh is sweet. The total bill come up to S$264.10, including drinks and GST charges. Overall, I find that the meal is above average but if you are here just for the Porridge and Frog Legs, I think it's worth to try.

Guan Guan Seafood

This Tze Char stall located at Tanglin Halt is a rare find. Although the coffeeshop is kindof run down, the food is good and the price is reasonable. I ordered a plate of Hor Fun and that cost S$3.50. The Hor Fun is simply delicious and one of the better ones I have ever tasted. The chef has good culinery skills and was able to control the fire while stir frying the Hor Fun to give it a mildly charred taste. The gravy is nice and smooth especially with the egg. The fresh ingredients together with the spring onions make the dish very tasty and fragrant.
