Dover Road Kai Kee Wantan Mee

Today, I was at Bukit Merah to check out my favourite Laksa but to my disappointment, it was not opened. I was walking around the hawker centre and decided to order a plate of Wantan Mee from this stall called Dover Road Kai Kee Wantan Mee. Although it's only S$2.50, the serving is generous. The Wantan Mee is very tasty, the texture of the noodle is just nice, soft and springy. The chilli sauce is superb, it not only enhanced the flavour of the Wantan Mee but it's the main element that made this dish so tasty.  The char siew is lean and does not have any layer of fats. The wantan is also filled with small chunks of minced pork to give it that wholesome taste. Overall, I find that the serving is generous and the noodles go very well with the chilli sauce. This is one of the stalls to check out if you are there.

Soon Kee Wanton Mee

I was at Pek Kio Market and Food Centre today to have my Wantan Mee at this stall called Soon Kee Wantan Mee. The last time I came to this food centre, I noticed that there was a long queue at the stall and being a foodie, I decided to order a plate of Wantan Mee to try. The Wantan Mee has a strong flavour of the garlic making it very fragrant. Do be aware that the chilli sauce is quite spicy. You may want to ask for less chilli is you can't take spicy food. The wantan is wholesome and it is filled with meat and I can taste a tinge of the flat fish. You can check out this stall if you are around the area.

Kok Kee Wanton Noodles

I was at Jurong West Food Centre for breakfast today. I had craving for Wantan Mee at this stall called Kok Kee Wantan Noodles. This is my all time favourite Wantan Mee which has a very traditional taste. You may be thinking that this name sounds very familar and yes, you are right, they have another outlet at Lavender Food Court. You will always see a long queue at this stall but they are very quick with the orders. I ordered a plate of Wantan Mee for S$2.50. They use egg noodles for their Wantan Mee giving it a very traditional taste that I find it very hard to find nowadays. The chilli sauce that goes with the noodles makes it even tastier. Their char siew is lean and very well marinated with the char siew sauce making the meat nice and sweet. However, I find that their wantan can be better if they fill it with more meat or a little crispy flat fish to give it more flavour and the wholesome texture. Overall, this is one of the best Wantan Mee I have tasted.

Swee Heng Wantan Mee

I was at Chomp Chomp Food Centre today for dinner. I decided to have Wantan Mee from this stall called Swee Heng Wantan Mee. I ordered a plate of Wantan Mee for S$3.80. The doneness of the noodles was just nice, not too soft nor too hard. The chilli sauce goes well with the noodles and brings out the flavour of the Wantan Mee. The noodle was absolutely fantastic but the char siew was kindof tough and would be better if it was a a little more charred and thinly sliced. Overall, I find that it's still one of the better Wantan Mee around.

Koung's Wan Tan Mee

I was around Geylang and had a craving for Wantan Mee. I decided to head down to Lorong 21A Geylang along Sims Avenue to have my Wantan Mee at this stall called Koung's Wan Tan Mee. This stall was previously located at Lorong 13 Geylang and before shifting to the current location. I ordered a bowl of Wantan Mee with extra noodles and chilli for S$4.50. They add lard in the noodles making it more fragrant but I think they added a little too much lard making it kindof oily. However, the chilli sauce goes well with the noodles and the char siew is nicely roasted till it's lean and tasty. The sweetness of the char siew makes the whole dish complete. Not forgetting the soup, it is filled with the goodness from the dumplings, is tasty and not bland like some Wantan Mee soup. Although it's kindof oily, I think it's one of the better ones out there.

Xing Ji

I finally had the excuse to force myself to wake up early in the morning and travel all the way from the west to the east to try this famous Wantan Mee in Tampines after sending my parents to the airport. I noticed that the stall has won numerous awards and recommendations from various food variety channels including Makansutra. I was one of the first few customers to order from the stall. The Wantan Mee was delicious as expected, the Char Siew was perfectly roasted with a nice charred taste. The Wantan was tasty and fragrant, filled with salted fish and meat. The ingredients blended well with the noodles and the chilli sauce. Definitely one of the better ones I have tasted.
