Rabbit Brand Seafood Delicacies

I was at Lucky Plaza today and while I was thinking of what to eat for lunch, I remembered this place called Rabbit Brand Seafood Delicacies that serves quality food at affordable prices. Here's what I ordered:

- Abalone, Top Shell Sliced and Dried Scallop Fried Rice served with Soup (Japanese Style)

The Abalone served is a baby abalone and not a whole abalone that you normally see from the can. The baby abalone is soft and a good substitute especially if you want to indulge and pamper yourself with a low cost. The Scallop Fried Rice is very fragrant and delicious, you can find ingredients like carrots, eggs, fishcake and diced scallops. This is one of the better fried rice I have tasted. The soup that comes with the fried rice is also very tasty, it is served in a bamboo cup. You can find ingredients like sliced mushrooms and diced chicken meat. The set also come with white fungus desserts that is just nice and not too sweet to end off a good meal. This set meal cost S$6.50.

- Abalone, Scallop, Mushrooms and Vegetables with Abalone Sauce Hor Fun

The Abalone, Scallops, mushrooms and vegetables are delicious and goes well with the abalone sauce. The abalone sauce adds more flavour to the dish making it very tasty. The Hor Fun is very silky and smooth and it tastes awesome with the abalone sauce. If you like your hor fun spicy, you can add their XO chilli sauce and it will taste even better. There is also diced scallops in the XO sauce to more flavour and texture to the dish. This set cost S$5.50.

- Deep Fried Spiny Lobster with Special Sauce, Served with Noodles

The lobster is delicious, the meat is sweet and succulent, the mayonnaise that was poured over the lobster makes it sweet and creamy. The plain looking noodles was unexpectedly delicious and tasty. The texture of the noodle is very springy and if you like your noodles spicy you can add XO chilli sauce. This set cost S$6.50.

Overall, I find that the food is delicious and good value for money. This is one place you can indulge in good and decent food without spending alot of money.

Outram Ya Hua Rou Gu Cha Restaurant

Today I was at Keppel Road to have Bak Kut Teh at this place called Outram Ya Hua Rou Gu Cha Restaurant. This place is very popluar and well known for their Bak Kut Teh. Here's what I have ordered:

- Spare Ribs Soup

The Spare Ribs Soup was delicious, the soup base was filled with the goodness from the pork ribs and white pepper which is why it's a little spicy. The pork rib is tender and the layer of fats melt in your mouth. The doneness of the pork ribs were perfect. If you like your soup spicy with white pepper, you must try this!

- Braised Pig Trotter

The Braised Pig Trotter is pretty normal and I find that it's a little salty due to the braised sauce. The doneness of the Braised Pig Trotter can be softer if it's stewed longer.

- Braised Pig Intestine

The Braised Pig Intestine is also pretty normal, I find that the pig intestines are overcooked and the braised sauce is too salty.

- Salted Vegetables

I find that the Salted Vegetables are pretty good. It is not too salty and certainly has what it takes to boost your appetite.

The total bill came up to S$27.70 including drinks. Overall, I find that the Bak Kut Teh and Salted Vegetables are pretty good compared to the other 2 dishes which I think could be missed.

Red Lacquer Penang Peranakan

There are countless eataries at Jurong Point but one of the few that I will patronise is Red Lacquer Penang Peranakan Restaurant. This place serves pretty good Penang Food and you don't have to travel all the way to Penang to try out the popular dishes. Here's what I have ordered:

- Penang Char Kway Teow

The Penang Char Kway Teow is delicious, the kway teow is fragrant and tasty. The kway teow is tasty even on it's own. The kway teow is slightly charred and you can find ingredients like  prawns, chinese sausages, cockles, eggs and beansprouts. This is their signature dish and it is and highly recommended.

- Penang Hokkien Prawn Bee Hoon Soup

The Penang Hokkien Prawn Bee Hoon Soup is also delicious, the soup is thick and has a rich prawny taste with a tinge of sweetness. The thick soup base goes well with the bee hoon. You can find ingredients like prawns, hard boiled egg, kang kong, bean sprouts and sliced pork. The dish is garnished with fried spring onions hence making it more fragrant.

- Penang Assam Laksa

The Penang Assam Laksa is very appetising, you can find ingredients like chopped onions, pineapple cubes, sliced cucumber and sliced chilli. I find that their Assam Laksa gravy can be thicker with more sardine fish. If you are looking for something to enhance your appetite, you can order this dish.

The total bill was S$25.00. Overall, I find that the food is pretty good and if you are craving for Penang Food you can check out this place if you are around the area.

East Coast Ngoh Hiang

My wife had a craving for Blanco Court Prawn Noodles today so we headed to Beach Road for lunch. Apart from prawn noodles, almost every other table had a plate of Ngoh Hiang on it. Other than the Prawn Noodles stall, the only stall in the coffeeshop is East Coast Ngoh Hiang. I ordered some Ngoh Hiang to go with the Prawn Noodles. I ordered the Intestine stuffed with meat, Prawn Fritters, Prawn Crackers and Yu Tiao with Cuttlefish. The Intestine stuffed with meat is tasty and the the meat is lean. The Prawn Fritters are thin and pretty crispy. And the Prawn Crackers are very crispy and crunchy. It's hard to stop crunching on it. As for the Yu Tiao with Cuttlefish, I find it somewhat normal. Overall, I would say it is a good side dish to go with your Prawn Noodles.

Xi Xiang Feng

I was at Ang Mo Kio Food Centre for lunch today. I wanted to check out this Yong Tau Foo stall called Xi Xiang Feng. Heard that they serve very good Yong Tau Foo. When I was there, I noticed that there was a queue at the stall, I selected my ingredients and joined in the queue. I ordered Bee Hoon dry with chilli and sweet sauce. The bee hoon goes well with the bean sprouts, chilli sauce and sweet sauce. The ingredients are pretty fresh. One of the items I chose was the deep fried meatball, It is very crispy but I must say that it is very unhealthy because it is very oily. I think the meatball is made of lard and flour which is why it is very fragrant and crispy but sinful. The soup is very tasty and filled with the goodness from the soy beans and Ikan bilis. Overall, I find that this Yong Tau Foo stall is pretty good and you can give it a try.

Hong Kong Soya Sauce Chicken Rice & Noodle

I was at Chinatown Complex Market for lunch today. I've always wanted to try out this stall called Hong Kong Soya Sauce Chicken Rice & Noodle but there is always a long queue most of the times. I decided to join in the queue today and waited for a good 30 minutes before it was my turn. I ordered a plate of Soya Sauce Chicken Noodle for S$2.50. The soya sauce chicken is very tasty and fragrant, the chicken is also tender and goes well with the noodle. The chilli sauce is tasty and complements the noodle very well. The long wait is well worth the effort. You can give it a try but I you must prepare to wait.

Lor Mee 178

I was at Tiong Bahru Food Centre for lunch today. I decided to check out this Lor Mee stall called Lor Mee 178. This stall is one of the popular stalls with awards in the food centre. I ordered a Lor Mee with Deep Fried Shark Nuggets which cost S$3.00. The Lor Mee is tasty and the fried crumps sprinkled on the top of the Lor Mee is very crispy and tasty. The Fried Shark Nuggets are crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. The fish taste fresh and does not have a fishy taste. You can find ingredients like lor bak, ngoh hiang, fishcake and bean sprouts. However, I find that the gravy is a not thick and tasty enough. Otherwise, it would have been perfect. Overall, I find the crispy crumps and fried shark nuggets are delicious and you can give it a try if you want to check out how fried shark nuggets taste.

Zhu Lin Seafood

Today I was at this Tze Char Stall called Zhu Lin Seafood located at Jurong East for dinner. This place is popular for their Paper Wrapper Chicken. The chicken is cooked and wrapped in paper. Here's what I have ordered:

- Curry Fishhead

Their Curry Fishhead is delicious, the gravy is thick and fragrant. The fish is fresh and you can find ingredients like tau kee, tau pok, lady's finger, tomato and brinjal. I would say it is a nice and nutritional dish.

- Paper Wrapper Chicken

The Paper Wrapper Chicken is their signature dish. The chicken is tasty and tender and you can taste the goodness of the chicken and herbs in the gravy. This is one of the better Paper Wrapper Chicken I have tasted.

- Stir Fry Sweet Potato Leave with Sambal Chill

The Stir Fry Sweet Potato Leave with Sambal Chilli is very tasty due to the Sambal Chilli that adds more flavour and spice to the dish.

Xing Hua Seafood Restaurant

There used to be a Xing Hua Seafood Restaurant along Syed Alwi Road that served what I deemed as my favourite Xing Hua Bee Hoon. Much to my shock and disappointment, I saw that the restaurant had closed their doors. With a glimpse of hope, I asked the stall owner next door and found out they are now near Mustafa. I drove round and round the area but I could not find the restaurant. As I was driving along Race Course Road almost giving up hope, I noticed this Tze Char Stall inside a coffeeshop and decided to try my luck there. As I got closer, I was delighted to see the signboard "Xing Hua Seafood Restaurant". It was only then that I realised that this branch was present all the while. We asked  about their main branch and and was told that they do not have enough chef and therefore had to close the restaurant along Syed Alwi Road.

I noticed that they had an award by the variety show, "Where The Queue Starts". I decided not to waste anymore time and ordered my favourite Xing Hua Bee Hoon and Deep Fried Batang Fish. The Xing Hua Bee Hoon is delicious to the very last mouthful. You can find ingredients like prawns, clams, small dried shrimps, sliced pork belly and vegetables. The Deep Fried Batang Fish is fantastic. It is thinly slice and fried till very crispy. You must try their chilli sauce which goes very well with both the bee hoon and the fish. The total bill come out to be S$12.00 for 2. This is one of the best Xing Hua Cusine I have tasted and that serves good food at reasonable prices.

Ramen Santouka

Today I went for dinner at this Japanese restaurant called Ramen Santouka at The Central. This place is popular and their Ramen is  voted one of the top 10 Ramen in Singapore. When I was there, there was already a queue and I had to wait for about 10 minutes before I can get a table. I ordered their recommended Tokusen Toroniku (Choice Pork) Ramen in Spicy Soybean Paste Flavour with an egg and a plate of Gyoza. The Ramen is delicious and the texture is springy and the soup has a rich flavour of the pork with a tinge of spiciness. The "Choice Pork" is actually the pig's cheek where the meat is said to be soft and tender. I find that the "Choice Pork" is indeed soft and tender but it is quite chewy too. The hard boiled egg is perfect, the texture as soft as tofu. As for the Gyoza, I find it pretty good but I must say that the doneness is crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside. Overall, I find the Ramen is good and well worth the wait. If you are looking for an authentic Japanese Ramen, you can check out this place.
