R K Eating House Pte Ltd

If you are looking for roti prata for supper, you can check out this R K Eating House Pte Ltd located at 1 Kensington Park Road, directly opposite Chomp Chomp Food Centre. They operate 24hrs a day, an ideal place for supper anytime. I ordered 2 Plain Prata and the Prata was crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside. I'm quite particular about the curry and I like it nice and hot. Their fish curry is tasty and not diluted like some fish curry. Dipping the crispy Prata with the curry is simply a great combination. If you are looking for prata around the area, you can check out this place.

Chong Chong Pork Porridge & Macaroni

Whenever you are looking for something light and healthy, you can head down to Chomp Chomp Food Centre to check out this stall called Chong Chong Pork Porridge & Macaroni. The Chicken Macaroni with egg is good. I especially like the clear soup. You can find slices of chicken and cabbage. This dish is garnished with chopped scallions, tang chai and fried spring onions. The cabbage is a perfect blend with the chicken and macaroni making the chicken stock nice and sweet. If you are looking for a healthy pick, this is the dish to satisfy both your palate and health concerns.

Lavender Fatty Fried Kway Teow

Hong Lim Food Centre is finally open! The food centre is simply a foodie's paradise filled with many delicacies and famous food stalls. I was craving for a nice plate of Fried Kway Teow and voila, I saw a long queue of people queuing up for Fried Kway Teow. I decided to try out this stall and joined the queue. It was a 20 minutes wait before my turn to order. I ordered the medium sized Fried Kway Teow for S$4.00. This Fried Kway Teow is kindof different from the usual traditional ones. They pour the mushroom sauce over the Kway Teow after they fried the Kway Teow. You can also find ingredients such as chye sin, fish cake, prawns, bean sprouts and eggs. If you like your Fried Kway Teow nice and wet, then you will definitely like this.

Xing Ji

I finally had the excuse to force myself to wake up early in the morning and travel all the way from the west to the east to try this famous Wantan Mee in Tampines after sending my parents to the airport. I noticed that the stall has won numerous awards and recommendations from various food variety channels including Makansutra. I was one of the first few customers to order from the stall. The Wantan Mee was delicious as expected, the Char Siew was perfectly roasted with a nice charred taste. The Wantan was tasty and fragrant, filled with salted fish and meat. The ingredients blended well with the noodles and the chilli sauce. Definitely one of the better ones I have tasted.

Mad Jack Cafe

Today I was at Bukit Timah area and decided to stop at Mad Jack Cafe for dinner with my wife. It's a nice place that serves western food at pretty reasonable prices. We ordered Spaghetti Chicken Bolognaise* and Crazy Chicks and Chips as well as the brownie with vanilla ice cream with chocolate topping. The Pasta is a little overcooked and too soft for our liking. The sauce is not thick enough but I must say that they are quite generous with the minced chicken. The Fried Chicken is pretty good, the skin is nice and crispy and I like the idea of adding fruits such as apples and peaches to the salad, making the dish a healthier choice. The brownie is very chewy and goes well with the vanilla ice cream but I find that the brownie is a little too sweet. The total price for 2 cost about S$28+ including drinks and deserts, pretty reasonable for 2 persons.
(* We requested to change the spaghetti to linguine)
