Tuck Kee (Ipoh) Sah Hor Fun

Today I was at Hong Lim Food Centre for lunch. As usual, I was scouting around for good food. I noticed many famous food stalls with long queues but I wanted to check out this stall called Tuck Kee (Ipoh) Sah Hor Fun. As I looked around, I could see many tables with crayfish shells. I know that it must be from this stall so I joined the queue. I waited for about half an hour and ordered a Crayfish Hor Fun with Prawns and a Chicken Hor Fun with Prawns. The crayfish is fresh and succulent, the flesh is also very sweet and juicy. The ingredients are fresh and the chicken is also very tender. The gravy has a rich prawny taste that enhances the flavour of the hor fun and ingredients. The chilli also compliments the dish adding more flavour and spice to the dish. If you like Ipoh Hor Fun, you must definitely try this dish.

Tong Luck Restaurant

If you want to have Kway Chap for breakfast at this Tong Luck Restaurant, you have to wake up early before they are sold out sometime around 10am on a weekend. Their "Kway" is delicious with the braised soup and fried spring onions. The ingredients used are very fresh and stewed till it fully absorb the braised sauce. The intestines are thoroughly cleaned with no bitter aftertaste. The Lor Bak is tender and soft, the skin simply melt in your mouth. The salted vegetables are not too salty and goes well with the Kway. The Tau Pok has absorbed the rich flavour of the soup and the soup just oozes out as you eat the Tau Pok. For Kway Chap lovers, you must check out this stall, this is definitely one of the better Kway Chap stalls.

Outram Park Fried Kway Teow Mee

If you are at Hong Lim Food Centre and you are craving for a plate of Fried Kway Teow, you must check out this stall called Outram Park Fried Kway Teow Mee. They have won numerous awards and recommendations from several food variety channels. This Fried Kway Teow is very traditional, fried with sweet sauce and chilli as well as ingredients like fish cake, cockles and bean sprouts. The Fried Kway Teow is very fragrant especially when fried with lots of garlic and lard. It is important that the proportion of the sweet sauce and the chilli is just nice when you are frying the Kway Teow or else it will be either too sweet or salty. The stall owner has perfected the recipe and I must say every plate of Fried Kway Teow is very consistent and taste the same. You must try this Fried Kway Teow, yummy!!!

If you are around Redhill and looking for desserts, you can go to Mei Le Yuan (Toa Payoh Bus Interchange) Hot & Cold Cheng Tng. They give alot of ingredients and their prices are relatively cheap. I ordered a Cheng Tng Soup which cost only S$1.30 and has ingredients like sweet potatoes, white fungus, longan, ginko nut and sago. The hot Cheng Tng is a little too sweet but the cold Cheng Tng is just nice. You can order the cold Cheng Tng which is nice and refreshing especially on a hot and sunny day.

Hillman Restaurant (喜临门大饭店)

My wife had craving for Hor Fun today. I remembered that Hillman Restaurant serves very good Hor Fun and so we made our way to Hillman Restaurant. When we were there, we noticed that the place was packed with many Japanese customers. I understand that this restaurant was popular among the Japanese community, even the menu had Japanese words. I ordered their Happy Beancurd, Famous Paper Chicken and Hor Fun with Egg. The Happy Beancurd was crispy and fragrant on the outside, the Beancurd was very soft on the inside. The minced meat sauce that was poured onto the Beancurd was very tasty and thick. Their Famous Paper Chicken was indeed delicious and lives up to its name, the chicken was very tender and marinated with wine, soya sauce and other spicies. I also found out that the chicken was marinated for at least 4 hours. The Hor Fun was fried until it has a charred taste and it was served in thick gravy fried with fresh ingredients and eggs. It's definitely one of the best Hor Fun I have ever tasted. If you are looking for good Tze Char with restaurant setting, you must check out this place.

Nan Heng Hainanese Chicken Rice

I was at Bukit Merah Central Food Centre searching for good food to recommend. While I was walking around the Food Centre, I noticed this Nan Heng Hainanese Chicken Rice stall with many awards and recommendations by several variety food channels. There was also a queue at the stall. I decided to order a plate of Chicken Rice and Vegetables with Oyster Sauce. The rice is nice and soft and it's so good I can even eat it on its own. The vegetables are nice and crunchy making it a healthier choice. As for the chicken, I find it a little dry, maybe it's because they gave me the breast meat. Overall, it's above average and worth a try.

L32 Self Made Noodle

Whenever I think of having a good Ban Mian I would think of L32 Self Made Noodle at Geylang Lorong 32. As usual, I would order the Mee Hoon Kway with Pork. The texture of the Mee Hoon Kway is thin and smooth. You can find ingredients like, sliced pork, vegetables, ikan bilis and eggs. The clear soup is nice and sweet especially with the crispy ikan bilis that adds flavour to the Ban Mian. The chilli sauce is sour and spicy making the dish very appetising. If you are looking for a healthy meal, this is one stall not to be missed.

Chia Keng Fried Hokkien Prawn Noodle

This Chia Keng Fried Hokkien Prawn Noodle is one of my favourite stalls at Chomp Chomp Food Centre. The Hokkien Mee is very tasty, the noodles have absorbed the natural goodness from the stock. The ratio between the noodle and bee hoon is just right. The hokkien mee brings out the rich flavour and goodness from the stock and it was served with fresh ingredients lke prawns, sotong, sliced pork belly, bean sprouts and eggs. The belacan chilli is also spicy and goes very well with the Hokkien Mee. If you are looking for a tasty and nice plate of Hokkien Mee, this is one stall you must try.
