Ban Seng Choon Cooked Food

While I was checking out the stalls at Bedok South Market and Food Centre, I passed by this stall called Ban Seng Choon Cooked Food. Frankly speaking, the stall layout doesn't look appealing but somehow, the fried bee hoon caught my attention.  Since my wife wanted to have something light, I suggested that she could try it out. She  ordered otar and Ikan bilis to go along with the Fried Bee Hoon. Don't be misled by the bee hoon's plain appearance, it is in fact very moist and tasty. The ikan billis is nice and crispy and goes well with the bee hoon.  I have not tried the other items from this stall but the fried bee hoon is definitely a must try.

Hock Seng Choon Fish Ball Kway Teow Mee

I was at Bedok South Market and Food Centre today for breakfast. As usual I was walking around the Food Centre and noticed a queue at this stall called Hock Seng Choon Fish Ball Kway Teow Mee. I decided to try out this stall and ordered a bowl of Fish Ball Noodles Dry with Chilli. As you eat the noodles, you will taste not just the chilli sauce but also a strong flavour of ketchup. The only ingredient is the fishball which is fresh and bouncy but I find it a little salty. You can check out this stall if you do not mind a strong ketchup taste for your noodles.

Rasa Sayang Western Food

I was at S-11 Food Centre today. I was contemplating between my old time favourite Western Food from this stall called Rasa Sayang Western Food and a bowl of Penang Prawn Noodles. I convinced my wife to share the food with me so that we could have both delicacies. This Western Food stall has gained lots of awards by the various variety shows like Yummy King. There were many people waiting for their takeaways and I decided to order a Fried Chicken Cutlet for S$6.00. The Chicken Cutlet is delicious and has a crispy breaded crust on the outside and the chicken is very tender on the inside. There are side dishes like the baked beans, garlic bread, salad and fries. Overall I find that the portion is generous and this is one of the better ones I have tasted.

Rong Liang Restaurant Pte Ltd (榮亮閤)

I was at Clementi West for lunch today at this Roast Duck stall called Rong Liang Restaurant Pte Ltd. When I was there, I ordered a Roast Duck, Char Siew and Vegetables With Oyster Sauce. The Roast Duck is fragrant with a layer of fat but I think that the skin can be crispier and leaner. The Char Siew is well marinated with the char siew sauce but I find that the Char Siew could be a little more charred and leaner with less fats. As for the vegetables, I find that it a little salty. Overall, I find the food above average and you can try if you are around the area.

Penang Delights

I was at Ang Mo Kio Avenue 8 for dinner today. It has been a few years since the last time I came here for a meal. I was walking around S11 Food Centre and noticed this stall selling Penang Prawn Noodles called Penang Delights. This is one stall that I have always wanted to try and hence I ordered a bowl of Penang Prawn Bee Hoon for S$3.50. The Prawn Bee Hoon was delicious and the soup was fillled with a rich prawny taste. The Prawn Bee Hoon consists of ingredients like prawns, sliced pork, kang kong and bean sprouts and it was garnished with lots of fried spring onions. This is definitely worth a try.

Soon Kee Wanton Mee

I was at Pek Kio Market and Food Centre today to have my Wantan Mee at this stall called Soon Kee Wantan Mee. The last time I came to this food centre, I noticed that there was a long queue at the stall and being a foodie, I decided to order a plate of Wantan Mee to try. The Wantan Mee has a strong flavour of the garlic making it very fragrant. Do be aware that the chilli sauce is quite spicy. You may want to ask for less chilli is you can't take spicy food. The wantan is wholesome and it is filled with meat and I can taste a tinge of the flat fish. You can check out this stall if you are around the area.

ABC Hawker Ah Hua Fish Ball Noodle

While I was at Telok Blangah Crescent Market Food Centre, I also noticed another queue at this stall called ABC Hawker Ah Hua Fish Ball Noodle and I told my wife to order a bowl of Fish Ball Noodle as well. The Fishball Noodles was tasty and fragrant as they added spring onions and garlic. The chilli sauce goes well with the egg noodle and consist of ingredients like the fish dumpling, fish cake and fishballs. Overall, I find that the the texture of the noodle and the chilli sauce with the spring onions and garlic blends very well  when I was eating the Fishball Noodle. This is definitely one of the better ones that I have tasted.

Yong He Eating House (永和豆浆油条大王)

It has been a long time since I had soya bean milk at Yong He Eating House. This is one of my old time favourite place for Soya Bean Milk and Soya Beancurd especially late in the middle of the night. When I was there I ordered a bowl of Hot Soya Bean Milk, Soya Beancurd, Toasted Bun With Pork Floss and Xiao Long Bao. The Soya Bean Milk is nice and smooth and most importantly fresh. For the Toasted Bun I find that the texture of the bun is a little too thick and would taste better if it's thinner. The Xiao Long Bao is steamed till it's soft but I find that the texture of the skin is too soft giving it a soggy texture but the meat taste wholesome. Overall, I find that you can try the snacks to go along with the Soya Bean Milk or Beancurd. Their Soya Bean Milk and Beancurd is one of the better ones that is fresh.

Song Heng Fish Ball Noodle

I was at Telok Blangah Crescent Market and Food Centre for breakfast today. I was walking around the Food Centre looking for good food to recommend. I noticed a long queue at this stall called Soon Heng Fish Ball Noodle. I decided to join in the queue and ordered a large bowl of dry fishball noodle with chilli for S$3.00. The Fishball Noodles was tasty and goes well with the chilli sauce. They only added vinegar, lard and chilli sauce to go with the noodle. The only ingredient is the fishballs and they are bouncy and fresh. Overall I find that this is one of the better ones that I have tasted.

Yong Zhen Lor Mee. Prawn Mee

I was at ABC Brickworks Market & Food Centre for dinner today. I wanted to eat Lor Mee at this stall called Yong Zhen Lor Mee. Prawn Mee. This stall is managed by an old lady and I must applaud her for the energy and ability to be able to work from day to night, cooking and washing at the stall. I ordered a big bowl of Lor Mee for S$3.00. The Lor Mee tastes good, the sauce is very tasty and ingredients include fried fish, fish cake, lor bak and bean sprouts. The fried fish meat is wholesome unlike other fried fish which is thickly coated with flour. You can taste the fish meat rather than the crumbs. However, I think It will be even better if the gravy is thicker, more gluey and less salty. Overall, this is worth a try if you are around the area.
