Noo Cheng Adam Road Prawn Mee

I was at Zion Riverside Food Centre for dinner today. I decided to have Prawn Noodles at this stall called Noo Cheng Adam Road Prawn Mee. If you are at the stall, you can see many awards by Makansutra and various food variety show. I ordered a bowl of Pork Rib Bee Hoon Soup for S$5.00. The soup taste sweet and is filled with a rich and thick prawny taste. The pork ribs were tender and soft but I find it a little salty. The dish was garnished with lard and spring onions. Their dry noodles with chilli sauce is also a good combination. If you like your prawn noodle soup with a rich prawny taste, this is one stall that you will enjoy.

Hill Street Fried Kway Teow

I made a trip to Bedok South Market and Food Centre for breakfast today to try the Hill Street Fried Kway Teow. It has been so many years since they shifted out of Hill Street Hawker Centre. When I was there, I thought I was lucky because I didn't see a queue at the stall but I was wrong. When I placed my order, I was told to go back 30 minutes later. It was then that I realised that those before me were already seated down at their table waiting for their Fried Kway Teow. Nevetheless, I ordered a large plate of Fried Kway Teow for S$4.00 and I must say that the wait was worth. The Fried Kway Teow was delicious and it was not too sweet or salty. The lard comes in small bits unlike other Fried Kway Teow, the small bits of lard simply explode in your mouth. The chilli sauce also makes the Fried Kway Teow more spicy and tasty. Ingredients include lard, cockles, chinese sausages, eggs and bean sprouts. Overall, I find that the trip was well worth the effort and I was glad that I managed to taste this Fried Kway Teow again after so many years.

Bedok South Niu Ji Prawn Noodles (勿洛南 (牛记) 虾面)

I was at Bedok South Market and Food Centre for breakfast today. This was my first time at this hawker centre and as usual I would make my rounds to go around and see what people are queuing up for. I noticed this stall called Bedok South Niu Ji Prawn Noodles with a queue of people and there were also awards by various variety shows. I ordered a bowl of Prawn Bee Hoon Dry with chilli. The Bee Hoon is delicious and has ingredients like prawns, sliced meat and bean sprouts garnished with lots of fried onions making it very fragrant. I find that the chilli sauce added more flavour to the dish making it a little spicy. I was surprised to be able to find such good food here and it's one of the better ones I have tasted.

Kok Kee Wanton Noodles

I was at Jurong West Food Centre for breakfast today. I had craving for Wantan Mee at this stall called Kok Kee Wantan Noodles. This is my all time favourite Wantan Mee which has a very traditional taste. You may be thinking that this name sounds very familar and yes, you are right, they have another outlet at Lavender Food Court. You will always see a long queue at this stall but they are very quick with the orders. I ordered a plate of Wantan Mee for S$2.50. They use egg noodles for their Wantan Mee giving it a very traditional taste that I find it very hard to find nowadays. The chilli sauce that goes with the noodles makes it even tastier. Their char siew is lean and very well marinated with the char siew sauce making the meat nice and sweet. However, I find that their wantan can be better if they fill it with more meat or a little crispy flat fish to give it more flavour and the wholesome texture. Overall, this is one of the best Wantan Mee I have tasted.

137 Lor Mee & Prawn Mee

I was at Tampines Round Market and Food Centre having my lunch. After I had a bowl of Pork Rib Noodles, I noticed the Lor Mee at this stall called 137 Lor Mee & Prawn Mee looks good. I decided to order a bowl of Lor Mee for S$2.50. The Lor Mee was filled with lots of fried fish fillet and the fish fillet is still very crispy even after pouring the gravy over it. The gravy is thick and gluey but I find it not tasty or salty enough and it would have been better if it's more tasty. Overall, the generious portion of the fish fillet and the crispy crust makes it value for money.

949 Upper Serangoon Road

This is one of my favourite Fried Oyster Omelette stalls. It is located at Fengshan Market And Food Centre, I ordered a medium plate of Fried Oyster Omelette for S$5.00. The Fried Oyster Omelette is fragrant and the texture is nice and soft with lots of eggs. It goes extremely well with the chilli sauce which has a sourish taste making it very appetising. Overall I find that the Fried Oyster Omelette is a little too oily but it's definitely one of the better ones.

Yong Cheng Bak Kut Teh (榕城肉骨茶)

I  went to Yong Cheng Bak Kut Teh at Sing Ming Road for lunch today. The coffeeshop was packed with lots of people waiting for seats due to the lunch crowd. While I was waiting, I saw alot of people eating Bak Kut Teh as well. I ordered the Bak Kut Teh, Braised Pork Trotter, Pork Liver Soup with Vegetables and Preserved Vegetables also called the "Mei Chai". The soup is filled with the goodness from the pork rib and spices such as the white pepper and garlic. I find that the meat from the rib bone is just nice and the meat is not too tough as compared to the other parts of the pork rib that was served. This Bak Kut Teh does not have any herbal or black pepper taste, it just has an original flavour of the pork. I find that the Pork Trotter is a little salty and the Pork Trotter is not soft enough. I think it will be better if it is braised longer. If you like pork liver, the fresh vegetables from the Pork Liver Soup help to balance the diet after eating so much meat. The Preserved Vegetables are not too salty and I find it nice and soft. Overall, I find that the Bak Kut Teh is pretty good especially if you don't like any herbal or black pepper taste for Bak Kut Teh. The soup is filled with the rich natural goodness of the pork and it's definitely very tasty.

Chan B.B.Q

It had been a several months since I last visited Fengshan Market and Food Centre. As usual, I ordered my all time favourite Sambal Stingray for S$10.00 from this stall called Chan B.B.Q. The stingray is fresh and the stall owner has mastered the art of barbequing the stingray to perfection. The thickness of the stingray is just right making it nice and juicy on the inside and slightly charred on the outside. The secret lies in the sambal chilli that makes the whole dish taste awesome but I must warn you that the sambal chilli may be overpowering if you can't take spicy food. This is the best Sambal Stingray that I have ever tasted and it will be a shame if you do not try it.

Lit Lit Sin Cold And Hot Desserts

I will never miss this stall whenever I go to Fengshan Market and Food Centre, They are very popular for their desserts. I ordered a bowl of Ice Gingko and Longan and it was absolutely refreshing especially after eating spicy food. The gingko is sweet and does not taste bland or bitter and the longan is a good combination to go along. This is also nice when it's hot. It's definitely one of the better desserts I have tasted.
